New module format

Posted by knightvision on September 21, 2008

I’ve been really struggling, as of late, on the format of my new module and modules there after. I’ve been creating different styles of maps and posting them on the Goblinoid Games forums for feedback. I also wanted to create some background material on BBEG (Big Bad Evil Guys). I’ve started with a flowchart created in Open Office Draw and then converted into a PNG file.

On the module structure, I really suck at describing rooms. I was thinking about putting that labor onto the LL during the game. I would have a map of the room with furniture and encounters and maybe a smell to give the LL more information.

Tell me what you think?

Module update 9.18.08

Posted by knightvision on September 18, 2008

I started writing a back story to the next module, Mace of Souls.
1. A semi-underground temple has come under attack from within
2. The most precious relic, The Mace of Souls, has been taken.
3. PCs enter the picture by coming in the back door of the temple, hopefully defeating the monsters who now dwell there and finding the temple folk.
4. The temple folk thank them for the rescue and beg for their help in finding the Mace.

This adventure will have the following environments
1. Underground complex - dungeon/cavern crawl
2. Underground lake/water
3. Hollow sphere -world within a world
4. Airship
5. Forest
6. Desert/wilderness

Web 2.0 Saturday 8.30.08

Posted by knightvision on August 30, 2008

Sorry that I’m a little late on this today. I’ve been hard at work on my first adventure module A-1 Dark Shore. All I have to finish is the maps and proofreading, then its complete. I hoping to complete it this weekend.

On now to the Web 2.0 pick of the web. This week I picked Picnik. It’s an awesome online photo editor that is completely free to use. My website host Synthasite has intergrated it into there GUI to fix photos that you upload to your site.

Here’s a review from PC World.

Adventure A-2 “Mace of Souls”

Posted by knightvision on August 18, 2008

Today I had a brainstorm about the follow up adventure to A-1 Corsairs of Crosskey. I’m calling it “Mace of Souls“. The adventure centers around a newly discovered temple complex of a long lost race (possible giants). It is rumored that a relic called the Mace of Souls rests inside and whom ever retrieves it will have immense power. The leader of a cult is after it and is in a race with the PCs to secure it for himself.

My pearl farm has been raided recently. At first the mauraders only took some tools and foodstuffs. Then they came back and took away my daughter and several of my workers. We managed to capture one of the pirates, but he wont talk. The town here will not help unless we offer 50% of our yearly pearl crop and that is outragious. There is no one else to turn to. Will you help?

If the PC’s ask for money or items, Jordoch will at first offer 100gp each, if the PC’s don’t accept, he will offer 200gp each and a bag of pearls worth 200gp.

He will say that the corsairs, if caught, will probably have a lot of booty which would be the PC’s for the taking.

Update on "Blood Island"

Posted by knightvision on January 20, 2008

I was stumped for a while on the pearl farm locale. I didnt want the PCs to be “railroaded” into doing something. However, I know at first level, roleplaying can be tough and the GM needs a toolbox of ideas to get the PCs going. This is what I came up with this morning.

4) At the pearl farm

Clues the GM can use to get the PC’s to Blood island

1) Make the corsair prisoner talk - 10% chance

2) The villagers find a ransom note that wants to exchange the captive corsair for one prisoner and has a rudimentary map to Blood Island

3) The PC’s see a pearl villager using a lantern signal to an vessel offshore. They capture and interrogate and find the location to Blood Island
